On the 9th of February 1990, Mr. Mohan Kumar Jain walked into 97 Park Street, Kolkata and opened a saree store. No celebrity endorsements. No marketing budget. Just an obsessively curated collection of India's finest textiles and the belief that customers who knew quality would find their way to it.
They did. And they kept coming back.
Thirty-six years later, Rangoli is a household name across four states — West Bengal, Telangana, Andhra and Karnataka. Not because of advertising. Because of what happens when you never send a product out the door that isn't worth the price on its tag.
Mr. Nikhil Jain leads the business today — expanding into South India, launching Riwayat for the modern Indian bride and building an online store that ships across the globe. The footprint has grown. The standard has not moved an inch.
Eight stores. Three brands. One obsession: the product has to be genuinely good, or it doesn't leave the floor.
